Re-Elect Deborah Prickett - Wake County School Board

Changing the Conversations & Getting Things Done In District 7 & Across Wake County

Deborah's Effective Leadership and Votes on the Board have:

  • Changed the Conversations around Student Assignment resulting in "Stability" and "Proximity" for students in all of Wake County-the 16th Largest School District in the Nation
  • Aligned the school calendars of the Leesville campus by honoring community requests
  • Revamped Hilburn Elementary into the first K-8 Academy in Wake County which changed a severely under enrolled school into a highly requested, populated school
  • Established STEM Themed (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) Schools at Hilburn, York, and Stough and a Global Theme at Jeffreys Grove
  • Brought stability and proximity to the Brier Creek area in 2009 as a result of the ever changing previous school assignments offering families school choice
  • Supported families by addressing the assignment and calendar challenges in the Carpenter Village, Breckenridge, and Kitts Creek neighborhoods in addition to surrounding Morrisville and Cary areas
  • Advocated for the 9th grade center at Panther Creek HS in order to ease crowding and the new M-8 middle school coming soon to the Leesville/Sycamore Creek area
  • Made student friendly and common sense changes to WCPSS Discipline Policies
  • Passed reasonable, cost efficient budgets while being a good steward of citizens’ dollars
  • Fostered quality relationships with County Commissioners, local business partners, school staff, and other elected officials
  • Brought fresh perspectives and a depth of understanding as she remains up-to-date in academics, Statewide initiatives, budget issues, and educational best practices through her current job as an Education Consultant/Program Manager of Afterschool Programs in North Carolina at the NC Department of Public Instruction
  • Provided community understanding since she Knows and values Wake County as her home--a Raleigh native who attended all public schools and lived in District 7 for 17 years in addition to being a very proud Mom of a son who attended WCPSS, recently graduated, and is college bound
