I've been an educator for over 30 years. In that time, I have seen many changes. Moving forward, we need to be thoughtful and mindful of proven best practices that can help improve student growth and achievement.
With over 30 years of local experience and an understanding of the needs in public education, I will stand with the families and students who deserve the opportunity for a higher standard of learning.
I’m a proud Wake County native that attended all public schools and a parent of a son who attended all public schools in Wake County. I was elected to the Wake County Board of Education for a four-year term in 2009. I advocated to help families with reassignment concerns, securing equitable math placements, and programming options that met the needs of students. With over 30 years of experience as an educator, I’ve held various positions including my most recent working for the NC Department of Public Instruction as a federal program administrator for afterschool programs helping low income families. This position allowed me to collaborate with all 115 NC school districts, as well as many faith-based, community-based, non-profit, and for-profit organizations.
